Sanjay S. Shete, Ph.D., studies determinants of traits in humans, animals and plants, including genetic components. He focuses on developing and implementing statistical methods to analyze pedigree data to identify disease-causing genes. He is developing methods for gene-gene and gene-environmental interaction, applying this to cancer data. Statistical methods for genetic and molecular data help uncover relationships between traits of living organisms and their genetic basis.
