Rice statistics, biostatistics graduate programs rank top 30 in U.S.

Statistics jumps 14 spots in U.S. News and World Report rankings, as biostatistics places No. 24 in new category.

Statistics and biostatistics programs top 30 statistics jump 14 spots

Statistics at Rice placed 29th among the nation’s top graduate programs, up 14 places from last year in the 2023 U.S. News and World Report ranking.

This marks the first time the statistics program at Rice has placed in the top 30 in the category of “Best Graduate Schools (Science, Statistics).” In a new category, Rice placed 24th in biostatistics. Among private universities, the statistics program at Rice ranked 10th and biostatistics 11th.

The annual assessment is based on evaluations by faculty at peer engineering schools.
